Set up sounds pretty good. Mine do not use hides either, they like it under their bowl better. As for the species of frogs, most small Ranids works, such as leopards, small bulls, bullfrog tads, greens, ect. I guess you could try treefrogs or toads, but I stay away from them as they would not be included as much in the diet. I believe seeing on other boards that you live in texas (correct me if I am wrong). Not sure where in, but if you have rio grande chirping frogs around, do not feed them as they have some noxious qualities to them and my snakes have regurged them before. Andy
