King in the classroom - What do you think?

Today I met the son of one of my co-workers in the pet store and he has a adult king (in a very secure cage) that he said we could have if we would like. (Too many snakes and he's running out of room :) The kids have missed having a snake since our last corn died... According to him, it is very docile, and eats 5 mice every 2 weeks. (We raise our own mice in the classroom) Is this the type of snake that could be safely handled by 14 year olds? What is everyone's opinion? Thanks!
