to bring this back up:

one thing i see no one else mentioning: "since our last corn died..." by 'our' i'm guessing she means her *current* class? if so, losing a couple of corns that have been with them since they were 'hatchlings' should raise a few care/stress questions?? if i'm wrong (which i hope!) then please, give us more details on the length of this program in your class and the experiences of those involved!

and the suggestions and answers about the kings are pretty good. good job everyone!

:Today I met the son of one of my co-workers in the pet store and he has a adult king (in a very secure cage) that he said we could have if we would like. (Too many snakes and he's running out of room :) The kids have missed having a snake since our last corn died... According to him, it is very docile, and eats 5 mice every 2 weeks. (We raise our own mice in the classroom) Is this the type of snake that could be safely handled by 14 year olds? What is everyone's opinion? Thanks!
