When I read Shemp's post I thought hmm...that's interesting, pineapple. Then I read Gina's and thought "well, shemp did say collards which are a CA:P of 7:1. So I don't see anything majorly wrong as long as the collards are the major part included." Then Haken makes a very good point about it's the overall ratio you need to be concerned with. But he also said (if I understand right) that his diet has a .75:1 ratio and that he adds calicum supplements to it. I know he said that the selection where he lives is limited and I can understand that because I sometimes can't find what I need and have to go to another on. You never know which store is going to carry iguana ok greens this week. LOL. But I think it is WAY better to get all/most of the calicum an iguana needs from the diet alone. It's not that I think supplements are bad, I just think it is better to have a diet close to what you need and adding just alittle supplement rather than having one far off and having to add tons of supplements. That's just my opinion though. I think if you are serving greens that are higher than 2:1 ratio it wouldn't matter much what the ratio is for the fruit as long as it doesn't have tannin or oxalic acid or is high in phosphorus, because the fruit is a small percentage of the diet. So it will pull the ratio back down to about 2:1. I once read you should aim for greens with 2:1 or better and fruits with 1:1 or better. BTW I respecy Gina a lot and would bet she knows 100 times more than me about Phytates, Oxalates, Purines, and Goitrogens.
