Kell,
First off, I am truly sorry to hear about your iguana.
The possibilities are endless on what caused it. We could trouble shoot for days or weeks from one area to another on that. House plants can be very toxic. Picking up lint, hair, small objects on the floor is another. He could of gotten a internal medical problem or was born with a medical problem that just came to the surface this last week. Most diet related illnesses are longer to take affect then what this sounds like.
The attempt of biting, could have been a sign of discomfort ( pain ) with your iguana. If it was egg related, could of been a egg problem like a ruptured egg. This would cause quick death. How old was your iguana? They have to be around 1 1/2 years to 3 years before sexual developement.
It's hard to say what happened without taking your iguana to a Vet to be checked out.
