I heard Harry (ig) make some strange breathing noises when I first got him....I freak'd..took him straight to the Vet asap because I was worried about URI with him. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with him, but did explain somethings about URI and different signs to look for.
One other thing, make sure the Vet KNOWS iguana medical treatments and not just practicing "hands-on" kind of treatments; there are many Vets out there that do just that. Schooling on reptiles, a history of treating reptiles, etc..., would you have a handy man perform open heart surgery on you even if the guy says he can do it? If there is a Herp group in your area, get ahold of them and ask, they'd be more then happy to give you names of good Vets.
