and i agree that he should be asking you about what you feed your ig and what kind of environment he has!!! *that* is the most basic and most important factor in an ig's health!

a *good* vet (for *any* animal!!!) should have the time to sit and discuss your concerns with you and explain to you why (or why *not*) you should be concerned about things ... like MBD and/or URI *and* what to do to prevent things like that!!! (which again, comes back to eating + environment)

as far as how to use a stethoscope, people go to school for *years* to learn to distinguish different lung sounds! (they're called doctors, nurses + respiratory therapists and i work with 'em! ... *grin*) ... it's *not* something you can learn on the net ... it's *another* reason why you need an ig-vet who *knows* what to look for and what to *listen* for!!!

definitely find an ig-vet and in the meantime, check out your ig's diet and environment with some good web sites on igs ...
