Because reptilian pets are beoming more and more popular, there are some vets out there that hold themselves out of be "specialists". I'm not sure if this is still true, but I do not believe there are "specialities" for doctors of veterinarian medicine. Anyone out there, correct me if I'm wrong? Many vets will list that they treat "exotics", and that's fine. However, this doesn't mean they have taken additional courses (schooling) like humane docs do (board certified in a certain speciality), seminars, additional reading in this area. I'd personally spend the cost of another office visit and see another vet for a second opinion. I've listed below a link for Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). Try looking in there for a vet near you.
