Thank you to everyone who replied to my last message (Head seizures and tremors) regarding my sick iggy Syd. He came home friday after 2 nights at the vet. You may remember he had severe calcium defincioncy and a bacterial infection affecting his liver. He has to go back to the vet to get antibiotic injections every 3 days for 3 more visits. We were also givin "Neocalglucon Elixir" (a liquid calcium) that we have to give him 5cc's 2x daily "for a long time" she said. He is doing ALOT better. He is still not his active self but he is moving around more and eating. We had him outside yesterday for awhile in the sun and after about 30 mins he started opening his mouth and keeping it open. Like Crocs do in the sun. Is this normal for an Iggy? I hadn't noticed it before but then we've only had him for 6 months so this is his first summer with us. We are in No. California so it was pretty hot yesterday. Or younger Ig started doing it also. We took them out of the sun and they stopped and were their normal selves again. I offered both water but neither drank right away.
Anyways the good news is we're pretty sure Syd is going to make it okay (after a $250.00 vet bill!!!) and we're glad to have him home. We are working on converting our spare bedroom to an Iggy paradise.
Thanks again,
Christina and Syd!
