i know + i admit, that i'm totally paranoid + obsessive about *preventing* infections in igs cuz of what happened to iZ ...

and from the opposite side of the fence, i'm struggling to understand your POV ~
i DO understand + realize that antibiotics kill gut flora, that's easily remedied tho ...
+ yes, from the ig's viewpoint, taking meds IS stressful, it tastes awful, it can upset their tummy, etc ... BUT ~

from where i stand, those temporary + very slight side-effects are nothing compared to renal failure caused by an infection that went undetected ... yes, that IS an extreme example, but it happens, it happened to MY ig and so i'm paranoid for all igs ... and i try but fail to understand the opposition to using antibiotics whenEVER there is a risk of infection ...

if my dog lost a chunk of his tail, i'm pretty darned sure that his vet would have him an antibiotics ~ that's a pretty major + open wound for ANY animal ... i would think that it would be especially important to take strong preventative measures in a cold-blooded animal that heals more slowly ... igs are notoriously good at hiding signs + symptoms of not feeling well until they are literally at Death's Door ... so how can it not be better to routinely use antibiotics to PREVENT infection, rather than the "Wait + see" stance????

i'm trying to understand a differing view + i need help doing that ...

Bon. + iZ
