any idea why iZ will sometimes search out the *coldest* spot in the house to snooze in? he likes to go up into my bedroom sometimes when he wants to roam around and the downstairs is too busy for him ... (my room is ig-friendly, which is to say that it's empty except for the bed + dresser!) a month or so ago, i went up to get him to tuck him into bed and found him propped up against the window pane ... this was when it was like zero degrees outside! he was so cold and stiff, i thought he was dead .... (and of course, doing that deep sleep, breath only twice a minute thing!) ... snuggled him warm again and he was fine ...
last nite he snuck into the bathroom (i'd shut the door and didn't think he could get under it ... our house is 120 yo and *very* crooked and so part of the door is like 1.5" from the floor) ... anyway ... now i know better! i thought he was up in his room or mine but i found him under the bath tub ... again, the coldest part of the house he could find and again so cold and stiff that he could barely move ....
both times he's done this have been nights when he's feeling *really* good ... he pooped 1/2 his body size, ate twice his body size for supper, roamed all over the livingroom, terrorized the puppy, snuggled on my lap, fought with the imaginary bad lizard that used to live under the tv, inspected the bunny's food bowl (*yech*! alfalfa pellets!), and generally having a great time ...
is he looking for hiding places or cooler places do you think? his room has temp ranges from 75-85 and basking spot is probably about 95 ... but he doesn't have any good hidey spots in his room now ... (he outgrew them!) think maybe i need to create some more secluded spots up there for him???? (here comes yet more silk vines!!!)
any thoughts? today is cleaning the dragon's lair day so it'd be a good day to redo some things ....
dandelions for the igs and caffiene for the humans!
