found iguana in the middle of the street.......

hi, i am usually over on the BD forum but on XMAS eve my friend found a 3foot iguana in the middle of the street!!!! she is scared of reptiles but feared for its life so she scooped it up and called me. here in the desert the days have been somewhat warm (for xmas) but the nights have been below freezing... i never had one before and i have been reading alot and all my cages are too small(i have and breed BD) he seems to be healthy BUT he is blind in one eye and a few broken toes..... with these injuries and the lizard being in the middle of the street in december, i do not want to look for his owner... i am planning on building a cage this week SO any info on cages or tips on health please respond..... i have read all the "basics" THANKS
