Last summer My Ig started an uncontrollable wag in her tail. It just didn't seem right (i've had her 5 years) she never did it before. Her tail would wag, and it seemed like she didn't have control of it.
I think part of the reason was that I had just moved, and got her a new cage too... she wasn't eating much, she was stressed.
I brought her to a vet, and he said nothing was wrong with her, so I demanded some liquid calcuim (wanted something for the $50 I put down).
Within a week she stopped this wagging, and hasn't done it since-- maybe it isn't the same thing your experiencing
