So Tempest's bloodwork came back, and there were no real surprises but there are things that need to be addressed, and fairly soon. He needs calcium in his system, his ratios are definately off, but they aren't at a dangerous point - yet. Lots of good greens, sprinkling of calcium powder on food is what the vet says, but this of course requires him to be eating. This leads to problem #2.
His blood muscle enzymes are high, basically he is now living off his muscles. Not good. Not immediately fatal, but he'll get there before too much longer. I can coax him to eat a little, but its not enough. He needs protein, he needs calcium, he isn't eating if I put it in his dish, and there's only so much I can push in his mouth as he hisses at me ( I use really long veggie pieces to keep my fingers safe ).
All I have on hand tonight are beardie pellets, I was thinking of mashing some up with calcium powder and liquified greens. Of course, all I have is a mortar and pestle to pound greens with, but I think I should be able to make a mush. I can feed him this through a syringe, but, should I? I was also thinking of baby chicken food and/or iguana chow, I can run out to the store tomorrow. One way or another, I'd like to see a substantial meal in him soon, if only to try to kickstart his normal eating.
Any ideas? Do these sound fine? Thanks in advance!
