My son posted a message awhile ago about his Desert Iguana. Here is alittle more detail:
A week ago Sunday my sons and I purchased three Desert Iguanas at the reptile show in Tampa. Got two babys and one adult. The babies have been eating their greens and very active. This last Sunday one of my sons baby jumped from the couch onto the floor. That is when my son noticed a 3" piece of his tail came off. My son felt very bad about that. But he was ok just a stubier tail. Tuesday both babies were active eating their greens, and a meal worm or two. That afternoon took my big guy to the vet to make sure he didn't have worms. No worms showed up. but the vet gave me some liquid Metronidazole mixed with Panacur. to give all three DI's. When I got home gave the medicine to the little guys. However one was hiding in a box and not his active self. He took the medicine better than the active guy. Today he is still sluggish. Didn't see him eat any greens. I started him on ensure as directed in Melissa Kaplins Herp Care web site. He weighed 9.5 grams Sunday after he lost his tail. Today he weighs 8.7 grams. He lost .8 grams in 3 days. I am concerned about his loss of weight, and lack of activity. I'm not sure if he ate a meal worm yesterday or not, and it plugged him up? He hasn't pooped today! I give them worms as snacks only. I usually give smaller worms to the little guys. But I don't think the sluggish guy got any worms yesterday! He may of got one Monday! Can constipation slow them Down? I would think so. What can I do if he don't poop. Put him in warm water? Or? Should I continue with the ensure? Please get back with some information! Thanks! Bill.
