Well ... if all else turns out okay ... it might not be physical.
My Ally is only a dwarf species ... about 6 inches from snout to vent. He hid for his first two months of life with me. I kept thinking he was dead. One day I put him in a new huge cage that was to be for a green ig, while I cleaned his ... and when I looked, Ally had turned into Tarzan. I think that it was a combination of the stress of a new home ..... then his home was too small.
And sometimes he seems almost 'dormant' sometimes. With desert types, I just wonder sometimes what the effect of a more even temperatured environment is on them? I mean, you don't have a million degree swings in temps like in the dessert. Just a thought. Oh yes, I also blacked out three sides of the cage to make him feel more comfy .. and I still do that when I put him outside and can tell he is scared.
