Hi everyone
I took my new adopted Ig in for her first vet check yesterday.
At adoption I found out she has had more than 3 owners and
has never been seen by a vet. She checked her over completely
and did a full panel of bloodwork. Beanie has had MBD in the
past evidenced by her jaw which is crooked but the vet said
she does not feel "rubbery" now so apparently it has been
arrested. She is about 2 1/2 years old and is just a little
over 2 feet long and weighs 1 LB 1 oz. The vet said she was
small for her age but she thought with good care she may grow
more. I got results back today on the bloodwork and her CA/phos
level is OK as well as other major organs. She does have an
elevation in her Eosinophils (WBC) which can be caused by a
parasite infestation, etc. I am waiting for her to poop so we
can check it. She is also slightly dehydrated and have been
instructed to soak her. She is starting to eat well so hopefully
she will poop soon. Maybe I am crazy but after this short time
she seems really comfortable with me preferring to eat out of
my hand and this morning she actually climbed onto my hand in
the cage and let me pick her up! At the humane society she
WOULD NOT let them pick her up. She head bobbed and ran away.
She is so sweet and never showed any aggression to myself or
the vet during the visit. I learned so many cool things in the
short time I have had her. For instance, at 7pm when her
basking light goes off she is out!!!!. I don't think a tornado
could wake her up. She is right behind me and during the day
if I try to get on line she climbs all over her cage until I
stop and go over to her. It is just after 7pm so she is asleep
and I can finally get on the computer and update you. Her new
enclosure should be ready the middle part of next week. Oh
yeah, the vet has asked me to do physical therapy on her front
toes each day because they are so malformed from being in a
very small cage and unable to climb. I am going on and on about
her but I am hooked. She is a sweety and for my 1st Ig I think
she was the perfect choice. She has found her forever home with
me. It is so sad that she has had so many owners in such a
short life. I am surprised she would trust anyone at all.
Thanks for reading and I always appreciate any suggestions.
Oh yeah, how do I find out how to post images on here?
