Sorry, I pressed the enter key too soon on my first post.

Nonetheless,
Here is an opportunity for ig forum posters to get in touch directly with the manufacturer of products. This usually isn't easy or sometimes just impossible. He has even given you his phone number to call.

The reason he is here is unfortunate. For whatever personal reason some people have posted completely untrue and unsubstantiated information in some effort either to make themselves look good or some kind of victim, or, just to slam a company and it's products while hiding behind the anonimity of the internet.

And still others are continuing to behave like spoiled brat immature children, again complaining about products without presenting any viable details or proof.

Having been a manufacturer I can tell you that a lot goes on between the time the product is made and the time that the customer buys it in a store. Limited production of anything means that the price will be high - period. Mass producing light bulbs for household use by hundreds of millions of people makes for pretty cheap pricing. While making a few thousand specialty bulbs for only 10's of thousands of enthusiasts is another story - The quality control has to be much higher cus you can't afford a lot of returns - and - whoever is actually making the bulbs (or any other product) is charging you premium price (and probably money up front)because the number of units produced is so low.

The other factors that some people here have complained about are: (1) Buying a lot of bulbs and having them fail - well, in my experience, something else is wrong - either your electrical set-up or the way in which you are using the bulb. Occasionally you get a store that buys up someone elses old or outdated stock and you may be buying broken or deteriorated product. (2) Problems with returns - this is where the retail store comes into play - usually retail stores are given generous return policies by the distributor - and- the distributor is given generous return policies by the manufacturer ( who eventually takes the hit on returns ). What usually happens is that you get less than honest stores that don't want to deal with returns or have a very limited return policy ( again usually because they see returns as a profit loss and if they are working on slim margins, they just don't want to deal with it. Or, often, some distributors have very limited return policies with the stores they deal with - this is very true with discount distributors or those that deal with overstock and discontinued merchandise. To sum this up, If you have problems with returns --99.9% of the time, it's the retail store ( or mail order store )that is the problem and not the manufacturer. (3) Canadian and overseas folks complaining about high prices - again refer to the specialty product/limited production cost problem - However, I have dealt with Canada and other countries and I will tell that the problem with pricing has to do most often with the government imposing tariffs, special import taxes, special product taxes, product classification taxes, special expensive packaging and promotion (like printing everything in both French and English) regulations that drive up the price - When I had my office in Surrey, Vancouver Canada, everyone would drive across the border into Washington to buy most of their stuff, cus of all the fees and taxes that Canada charged on everything. When I had to export to Canada, our manufacturing and packaging pricing went up over 30% just to meet government regulations.

I would say that if you have a legitimate and provable complaint with ZooMed, call him up or email him - he has given you a rare opportunity to do it directly. Otherwise your whining and complaining just make you look like someone who would rather bitch and moan than actually solve their own problems.
