Then you would have to provide alternate heating and lighting sources as your iguana still requires the tropical day and night temperatures every day and night. If the purpose of using a mercury vapor product is to cut down on the number of fixtures and outlets one needs, turning it off to reduce overall UVA and UVB isn't going to eliminate the need for multiple fixtures and outlets. ;)
