I checked with the vet guy that works at the pet shop, and he said what I have is a broken tail. There are no black spots on the rest of Gir... just his tail, which looks about ready to fall off today ::sighs::

The vet yelled at the pet store owner for having more than one iguana in a ten gallon tank on display and told me to watch the tail... if it is only a broken tail it will fall off and I should clean it with peroxide and use neosporin on it... both of which I have on hand, at the moment...

So... that is what I shall do. Unless something else happens.
