There are "rubber" bands made of plastic instead of natural rubber latex, which aren't grippy like rubber can be and don't pull out your hair.
Baumgarten makes a brand called Plastibands sold as non-marking rubber bands for archival purposes and can be found or ordered at office supply companies. They are brightly colored and come in several different sizes.
Cosmopolitan, like the women's magazine, is another company that makes them, and they can be found with other hair bands, clips, ornaments, etc. They are about 3 times the cost but come in shades that blend more easily into your hair.
Flavia, since Malaysia is the natural rubber capital of the world, I wonder if they sell similar products where you live?
