one of the most important rules for effective communication with small humons/hatchlings is
"Use as FEW words as possible!"
... kids quit listening after you're half-way thru the 4th word ...
EXAMPLE:
"Sara, please do not hit your little sister on the head with that (toy) hammer, you know that it hurts her + makes her cry." (well DUHHHH! why do you think she DID it!?!?)
is nowhere NEAR as effective as:
"SARA, STOP IT!!!!!"
explaining to Kaetie:
"Don't eat mud honey, it will make you sick."
isn't as effective as
"KAETIE, STOP IT!!!!!"
and yes, it IS tiring to be female ... *sigh* ...
