...and my attention span does allow me to read long posts as long as they are interesting and written by an articulate individual (and you are)!
So, your new iguana sounds fantastic! It sounds like she is bonding with you already. I think the people were crazy for giving her up...but good for you and her!
Your cage is fantastic...very big and beautiful. Those tree branches are amazing too. I would suggest you spend a lot of time with her and let her walk around some each day. It is going to be very hard for a free-roamer to be caged at first. She needs exercise anyway.
You defintitely need to work on that diet! Arrghh...no bananas! Don't give her these until she is eating the other stuff. They are worse than nothing actually. Mango, melon, papaya, and berries are fine to persuade her to eat more greens. Forget the romaine too. Hand feed her some fruit she likes on a small piece of collard green or (dandelion, mustard, turnip green, escarole, endive, watercress). If you must...start out giving 1 small piece of fruit for every bite of green until she gets used to the greens. Make the fruit slice thin. You can also try various squash, green beans, and snow peas...but I would really push the dark leafy greens first because that is what she needs to eat. It may take some time, but the sooner the better. You also need to encourage her to eat on her own eventually. It is best if she doesn't depend on you to this degree because if you ever need to go out of town..she needs to accept food from a bowl so someone else can feed her.
Good luck and keep us posted. And keep the photos coming too! :)
