ok, everyone, i have got a question, see my ig petrie is about 1 1/2 yrs old and is only an svl of 8 inches. i know this is undersized( i rescued him from my brohter) but just how undersized is it? can anyone give me an idea? i took him from my brother about 5 omnths ago and he has grown about 2 inches svl since then. should he be growing faster? he is very healthy and active. he loves any big leafy green especially cilantro, but i feed him lots of veggies too ( as much a i can get down him). he is on mk`s salad although he would much rather eat leafy greens than that salad. he hates it really. i even took out the alfalfa and added brighter colored veggies to try and attract him to it, it has worked somewhat, but he still will eat more leafy greens than the salad. if i just put down the salad, he will barely pick at it and he will not eat for days if i get stubborn and try to get him to eat all of his salad. as soon as i put down anything green and leafy he runs down and gobbles it up. i would not worry, but i know that leafy greens don`t contain enough nutrition to sustain an iguana. he needs the nutrition in the salad, my question is, how do i get it to him? i ahve tried pretty much everything i can think of, including tricking him by taking baby food( organic of course) and spreading on the back of the leafy green and then presing the salad into it so he would be forced to eat the salad. this works, but how do i get him to eat the salad on his own????please help....

: This is Gwaners (my igs) first house. My roomate bought gwaners for me as a valentines gift. We didnt know much about them, only that they got really big. The petstore sold him the ig, 10gal tank, hot rock, pine shavings for substrate, told him to use "regular aquarium lighting" which they also sold him, some branches for climbing, a food and water dish. He told my roomate that we should feed Gwaners green leaf lettuce, and sprinkle it with some calcium supplement. He also told my roomate that the 10gal would be good for a while, that she wouldnt grow very fast in it.You can see Gwaners tank is sitting on the floor in my apt. Poor Gwaners, everything was done WRONG =( About a week after I got her, I bought a book, I learned we would kill her by keeping her in this tank, with all the wrong stuff. That week I went out, bought her a new tank, (30gal) was all I could afford at the time, uva/uvb lighting, basking light, thermometers, astroturf, a big water bowl, and some cage furniture (something to climb on, and hide under. I also bought a ceramic heat emitter and the fixture for it, also, a reptile undertank heating pad. I took the hot rock out. I also changed her diet, for that would have also killed her. Gwaners was really small as you can tell from the pic, the 30gal was fine, for about 3mos, then, I got her a 60gal, and added a basking extension. She wasnt in that for long, she grows way fast. Now shes a free roamer with a basking/reptisun 5.0 station. She loves it. I have only had her for 1 year. They grow so fast. You also end up spending lots of money in the process, unless you know what you are doing from the start. But she was well worth it. I am glad I learned more about her, she is my baby =) Just wanted to share. Yvette
