Handling Problem

Ok, I've had my new iguana now for about one month and I'm very
confused. Whenever I put my hand in the cage he/she gets
extremely jumpy and frantic. I read that you shouldn't try to
handle them if they run away and I've also heard that you SHOULD
handle them up every day so they don't learn to repeat the
behavior. Which is correct?
