moving my Ig?

Hello,
Next month I will be moving to a city that is about a 7 hour drive away. In previous moves I have put my Ig in a dog carrier and kept him in the car with me. However, in the past the drive was no longer than 30 minutes away. So I am wondering if I should do something different this time?
