I do agree that your resuce is probably a Basilisk. I just saw a pair in San Diego Zoo.

: Sounds like maybe a water dragon, which is NOT an ig, but kinda similar. Or maybe a basilisk. You ought to get a pic of it. Ask what it eats and if it spend a great deal of time in the water. They have different diets than a green ig!
