Wendy,

I have experience with moving to a new house with an iguana. We moved at the end of December. Lizard (yes, that's his name) adjusted very well. The move did disrupt his pooping habits, though. He's free roaming, and his toilet was no longer there. (He always went right behind the toilet at the old house.) He didn't know where to go in the new house, so for awhile he went wherever he happened to be when he needed to go. We soon developed a habit of putting him in the tub to do his business. Now he's pretty well adjusted to that.

Anyway, my point is that a big move can stress an iguana. They might lose their appetites for awhile, or poop in the wrong place, or act depressed or agressive... but a healthy iguana should be able to adjust without too much difficulty. Glad to hear that you've thought about taking care of your pets when you move away for college. :-)

: I have also thought a fair bit about what would happen once I went to university. It is an option for me to live at home and travel in and out from town each day. It is also an option (a more likely option) for me to find a pet friendly apartment near my university where I could move. I will never move into dorms because I couldn't leave the pets I already have behind. Either way, I will do what I think is in the best interest of the animal. I know that being able to keep it in the same place for the rest of its life would be best, but do you think one move would be that big of a problem? I know it would be stressful at first but I think it could adjust. I think that leaving home with the iguana may be a problem because my Mom wouldn't want to let it go! I know she will become very attached very quickly to him.
