Vet said gram positive is normal in Ig mouth, gram positive indicates a problem. He didn't volunteer a speculation as to what it could indicate but when I pushed him he rattles of a string of possibilities the first (and only one I really recognized, therefore registered at the time) being ecolli.
He'll be able to tell me more when the lab results come back. Evidently there's a chance the lab won't even register the gram neg's. He did mention that he only saw a few, so I guess there's always the possibility of a misleading reading in the office. He said the lab will call him day1 "if" they get gram neg reading, then call him again as they become able to determine what kind of gram neg bacterial it is (therefore what condition it indicates).
Not recognizing any of the possibilities he'd rattled off to me (besides the ecolli), I made sure to ask him if they were all treatable. To which he responded, in a truely comforting "Oh of course. . .not even a worry about that", sort of way. . . "Yes". So that IS good news.
Will keep you posted though.
: What is that???? Never heard of it. Keep us posted. Ask your vet to expand on that problem and then let us know so we can learn from it. Good luck!
