Are you talking about the Vita Spray? I use it even tho I've been told that it is nothing more than glorified water LOL I stopped using it for a while but went back to it. I guess I tend to remember to do it better when I've spent $$ on it rather than just drawing up tap water. If you are referring to something I think is called Shed Ease, I've no experience with it.

I sometimes have to spray our male heavily along his spikes for a few days then very gently tug each one....if they are ready, they'll come off very easily. You should not have to pull hard. I've never tried to m/oil as suggested by Ig3 but it sounds like a good idea.
