IGS changing color in sun

Hello ALL, havent posted in a while but i got a question...
I've has Roach for a year, he gets all the proper food/light/heat/exersize. I live in Montreal and its just stating to get warm enough to bring him outside to bask in the sun.

now here we go...

whenever i take him outside he gets darker and darker, not just a little, we're talking BIG difference. I often let him sit on my hat, and i'll walk around the block, but when i get back home he's almost brown. is this OK/normal????
