New Cage & Bedding Question

I'll be building my son a new enclosure for his Ig soon.I figured 4' x 4' x 6' or 7'.Going
to make it out of Melamine,like his old one. The old one has astro-turf floors. Nice but
kinda hard to keep clean. I would like to put a 4'x4' plastic tray at the bottom and fill it
with dust less cat litter.The only time his ig goes to the bottom of the cage is when he
goes to his bathing tray and to relive himself. Otherwise he spends most of his time on
his basking shelf or on his log.I figured about 4" of cat litter would make my sons clean
up job a lot easier.I would like to use the odor control stuff. I don't think he would eat
the stuff,he is well fed and taken care of. Lookin for some pro or cons on this subject.I
have read care sheet ,and if he was a juvenile I would worry more.
