Hmm, i wouldn't recommend cat litter. It can be digested and will compact inside, which isn't good at all. You may think that he'll never eat it, but lizards lick to smell, much like snakes. If there's something new in his cage you bet he's gonna stick his tongue on it first thing... I'd recommend black & white newspaper. That's what i use and it works perfectly. Putting cat litter in there makes for unnessicary cleaning or moving (think about how much cat litter flies around when you have to change it ALL). I have both cats and a lizard, and to me it's much easier to clean the lizards cage =P

As for the cage size, if you really want to make a cage that this iguana can grow up in, i'd recommend more length on it, try a 4 x 5 x 6 cage at least. Think about it: This guy is probably going to get upwards of 6 feet long. I think most people on here will tell you that 4 feet wide isn't big enough, really. =/ It's like being stuck in a phone booth. I'm not sure how old the iguana is now, and for mine (he's a year and a half old) that would be a good size, but i know they grow fast, and soon he'll look cramped.

I'm planning on building a cage in my room for my iguana, around 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 6. It will be made out of PVC, with the back covered and perhaps a covered mesh wire for the front so the iguana can look out or climb on it freely. The floor will be the same stuff we cover our kitchen floors with (can't remember the name) so that when he poops, i can just wipe it up. Also he will start free roaming when he gets older (and bigger =P).

Anyways - Hope that helps you some.
