Hi all,
This weekend I took over two large adults, both of 7 years old. They are a sexual pair, and have been togther all of their lives.
I brought them home, including the large enclosure they have been in for the last 3 years, and decorated the cage the same as it was (more or less). The female is carrying eggs, and will be laying them within a month now. Well, this is all very good offcourse, but now the following. The male is rather docile, and will allow me to approach not to close naturally, since he still has to get accostumed to me, allthough I must say, it itches to peel his skin (seems like a small shadding problem). The female however is rather defensive. Everytime I walk past the cage she is trying to impress me, as soon as I open the cage she starts hissing and threatning with her tail. Now, I just leave her be, but the thing is that she sometimes freezes for a while, and it might effect her eating. The male is eating from the moment he arrived, but the female only had a few snacks so to speak. Now I was wondering if this might be stress related (and then it will propably change as soon as she settles in and gets used to me), or is this normal when they are gravid?
