Laura...Mites are bad news! Did your vet recommend disinfecting everything..substrate, wood (basking branches) cage/or tank? If not than your mite problem will persist. I have two snakes also and when even 1 mite is suspect
I go through weeks of continual sterilizing.Mites can kill a snake ...they get up under the scales & create havoc..jeopardizing their health. I use Nix..in a spray bottle to rid my snakes of mites, Q-tip dipped around the eyes, also disinfect everything with bleach & water solution. Serious stuff here Laura...they travel & breed like wildfire,hiding in the most obsure crevices. Is the sky falling yet? Not meaning to freak you out but..have heard of MANY snakes dying from IBD transmitted by mites. Nothing yet on transmission of diseases mites to iguanas tho, maybe its cuz they have tougher skin!
