new iguana questions

I have a couple quick questions. I just got an iguana on umm friday, and since I got it I don't think it has ate anything. Is this normal and just part of being stressed out? And to make matters worse when putting food in his cage yesterday he suprized me and ran out, well in the ensuing chase I accidentally grabbed its tail and it broke off. Is this something I should really worry about? He looks ok today, just relaxing but my main worry is that he hasnt ate, anything I can use or do to get him to feed?
