Yes, aspiring singer, but unable to write songs.....so maybe YOU could find a band for ME...:-)
: 1.) Diet
Collard greens, right now a mix of squashes, last week mix of peppers, frozen fruit on top, some more greens (turnip, mustard), tried some fruit and veggie-flavored pellets
: 2.) When was Gizmo's last shed?
Actually I think it's still going - her fingers have little bits of skin hanging off them. She was shedding a bit when I got her (October) and she started again around Christmas. It doesn't show in the pic but her stomach is back to the same bright green as the rest of her used to be.
: 3.) When were the UV tubes last changed?
They were brand-new in October.
: 4.) How close can Gizmo physically get to the UV tubes?
12-16 inches on basking blankie or right up under them when she climbs cage walls. I did have a question about the merc bulbs - which would they replace, the UVA/B tube or the heat lamps? Or both?
: Reasons for asking:
: 1.) Color/health could be somewhat affected depending on what you are feeding...
: 2.) Ruling out any chance of retained/pending shed.
: 3.) Fluorescent UV tubes are only "good" for 6 months and have to be replaced after that.
: 4.) If an animal can't get within 12" of a fluorescent UV tube the light is doing absolutely no good for it. The decay rate on fluo UVB is such that after 12" there is little to nothing useful left...One of the reasons I recommended looking at the merc vapor bulbs....;)
