Sounds like everything is OK. If the vet said that the fecal was OK and Giz is eating and behaving normally for him/herself then I wouldn't worry about it too much. When you have the money to do so I would find a qualified herp vet and have a complete blood panel done if for no other reason than to establish a baseline from which to work in the future.
The merc vapor bulbs will actually replace both the UV tubes and the basking lights so on top of providing much more UV light and heat they should also cut down on your electricity a bit. The three things we recommend to have for "basic" equipment are a merc vapor bulb for daytime UV, light, and heat, a radiant heat panel for constant ambient temps and night heat, and an ultrasonic fogger or humidifier. We highly recommend running an RHP through a temperature controller such as the one that ESU markets. We are actually looking for a high quality reasonably priced humidistat to control the humidifier. As much as I'm sure Mel enjoys the 99% humidity at night her enclosure is beginning to show signs of floating away....
Any more Q's don't hesitate to drop us a line...We'll do what we can to help...;)
