: So, in "reality", the tail loss to the iguana was actually YOUR fault then is that what you're telling me ? Because, in "reality", I don't know of too many instances where GGI's would encounter AMERICAN alligators specially inside a human dwelling. Gee, an ig dangling above a captive gator pond - yeppers, this injury really is unexpected....
: Since Florida now has a feral breeding population of iguanas this scenario could conceivably play out somewhere down in Alligator Alley. BUT since it happened while both the iguana and the gator are in your care then you would ultimately be responsible for the housing and conditions of both animals.
: I'd like to rephrase my last comment about the picture and state that it is actually a very good photo of an injury that had absolutely no reason for happening and that your "professionalism" shouldn't be called into question so much for the posting of the picture but because you allowed this to happen in the first place.
: As for the posting of the pictures themselves, the reason that I posted the warning under the tail pic was simply to let others on the forum know that there was something there that children and individuals with less than cast iron stomachs didn't necessarily have to see. And I think the concept of iguana mating has been successfully depicted. I'm not even going to bother to ask what you do with the eggs.....

Does Christy let her kids watch the X-Files or the evening news or go shopping in the meat department of the grocery store?-has she ever explained that the cow didn't volunteer to be a Big Mac.
as to her response for the "clipping the wings"
that's why kids go out and kill each other--they have NO concept for real pain, real death, real injury, they are too protected from the REAL world. and kids that age DO kill each other. Reminders of the real world are good.
The picture is NOT gruesome compared to watching the Animal Channel and seeing lions rip the guts out of LIVE, still kicking Zebra.
Also, the wound looks almost exactly like what happens when a gecko, skink or glass lizard lose their tails---no one says anything about that, yet it is depicted in EVERY book on those species.
Mr. D does not understand the concept that accidents happen, and the rest is out of line, and none of his business.
