MUST READ THIS!! Found out what was causing Sickness!!!!

Okay miya started acting strange a couple days ago~ He threw up mucus and was off his food. He was really thirsty though!~ He didn't seem to have a respitory infection and after totally going off his food seemed to be improving. Than the next day my other Iguana Floyd started to go off his food(now this is very wierd for him) I got home yesterday and rushed to see how Floyd was~ His food bowl had what looked like mucus and BLOOD! I started to freak out~ Of course my husband was trying to calm me down and started questioning me on what exactly i had been feeding them~ He said that did not have the look or smell of blood~ Yes it was red~ But he wasn't convinced. So i started naming everything that was in there salad the last couple days~ Mustard greens,collards, orange & yellow bell pepper~ some carrot~ banana~and Dandelion green~ Than as i looked closer at the greens i remembered!! The dandelion green! It had red stems!!~ I know what you are thinking dandelion doesn't have red stems! But I had gone to a market and they had what looked to be red stem dandelion greens. It had a tag that said dandelion greens right on it~ So i thought oh some ,kind of new dandelion green! I had compleltly forgotten about adding it to there salad as i had made it up at the begginning of the week! The same time they started acting ill!! Well then my husband asked if i had tasted it! I hadn't~ But when i did!OH YUCK!!! It was so bitter and my mouth went instantly dry and i had to spit it out! NO wonder they were so thirsty and kacking it up!!! Without even knowing it i was poisening my own lizards!! AHHH!! I of course felt horrible and immediatly cooked up some veggies(they love cooked veggies) and since they had totally gone off greens I thought this might help them eat! Well Miya dove right in~ he was half starved!~ Floyd has refused to eat so far~ He is giving me this look of what are you going to poisen me with now??arggg~ talk about making you feel bad! I am hoping i can get him to eat by noon~ if not its off to the vets~ As i am unsure as to how poisenous this stuff could be!?? HAs anyone seen or heard of dandelion greens with red stems?? It looks identical to dandelion except for the red stems!!~ Just thought I needed to tell everyone incase they buy this thinking its good for them!~
From now on if something doesn't look quite right i am going to make sure its okay before trying it!~ Plus If i would have just tasted it i would have known it was bad news!~ I am going to go back to that store and see if they will put a note on that stuff saying it is toxic to Iguana's~ Its my fav store to buy stuff as they have many organic stuff. Plus they are customer friendly and I know they will go the extra effort and put a little sign up~ Wouldn't want anyone to go thru this~ Tif
