If you spend a lot of time in there everyday, I don't think I would. I have seen people put tinfoil around the active UV fixtures to block the light from their eyes. This is a possibility I suppose and I would do that if I ever buy those for the lizard room. I don't, however, spend all kinds of time in there though-- just enough to care for the lizards, do laundry, and walk through to visit the lizards several times per day/night. I don't have a desk or do any work in there. Good luck with whatever you decide...don't go blind over it though!
