From everything that I have ever seen, the only way that it can be contracted is through ingestion. Inhalation would definitely be a new concept especially since the only other way I've heard of contraction is from spoiled food. I think that there would also be many more cases of salmonella being reported. BabyHerp could give you more clinical breakdowns on this.
