In Reply to: Vet trip would be the first thing..... posted by Mr. D on August 22, 2001 at 06:25:37:
Im gonna take him to the vet in a few days, I want to let him just relax before I stress him anymore. im sure the bath, nail clipping and seeing actual light for the first time in years has stressed him enough for a few days. Ive been giving him 2 syringes full of warm pedialyte. I will go with the slurry you sugguested in a day or two after he has gotten used to the pedialyte and the vet says it's ok, afterall if he's blocked up, the slurry will only do harm.
he already has full spectrum bulbs (incandescent and a flourescent.).... unfortunatley it's cloudy and raining today so i cant take him outside for a bit but next sunny day I will let him get some real sunshine. Right now I have him in a 20 gal long (it's the only thing i had avaliable on such short notice) (but atleast it's clean as apposed to the filth hole he was in before)
Slowly increase the exposure time to the UV if you can.... Hour to start for a day or two...Two hours the next..three...etc. By the end of a week you should be able to get him on a 12/12 cycle for light. I am gonna go get the iggy handbook today. thank you for your reply. I apprecate the help. I will keep you guys posted and post some pics when he's less stressed out and I can take them. Im gonna check out your website and read whatever you have on there...thank you all in advance for being so kind and helping out... I have not reported the neighbors because iggys are outlawed in my state, and if I report them, their gonna take him away from me and and do who knows what with him and then he has NO chance of making it.
sincerely
phil
