Hey y'all
Ethical question-When is it time to throw in the towel? I rescued 2 igs about 2 months ago from a family that kept them in a 40 gal tank, no sunlamp, no outside basking, & fed the spinach & dog food from the start. They're about 2 yrs old. They are both stunted because of their previous care. They both have broken backs. They had been kept alive by calcium injections by a vet. Went to said vet yesterday & vet wants to continue injections for another month. $145 for both. I've been feeding them kaplan salad a la her website, also dusting their food(to much calcium?), outside basking, etc. My question is this-judging by their quality of life thus far, is euthanising them my best option? It seems as if they're gonna die in a year's time anyway. Sorry to sound crass, but I feel like the vet is just trying to hustle a buck. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rick
