Too much lighting??

Is there such a thing as too much light. I don't mean light periods, I have a 13 on 12hr off period, I mean literally too much light. I have the basking lights,etc. along with a four foot uv fixture extending the full length of the cage. Is this OK, or should part of the cage have NO light above it at all. any ideas??? thanks...
