ig with lumps on tail

I have two igs of roughly the same age they get a proper diet, but on one of the igs the last three inches of his /her tail has lumps just under the skin they don't look infected and do not seem to cause pain when touched.Anyone have any idea what this might be? As a side note he/she does whip with the tail quite alot are they old injuries?
