not all agree on if animal protein is good or bad .... IMHO, i think it's bad and don't feed any .... here's one article on it: http://thunder.sonic.net/~melissk/kid_fail.html
i'd recommend having your vet do a blood test and find out for sure what Pellinore's calcium level is and then you can go from there ...
i use "Centrum" vitamins for iZ ... crush them up and put a teeny sprinkle on his supper everyday ... (FDA approved and regulated whereas reptile supplements are not) ... *I* would also use "people" calcium supplements in teeny amounts ... same reasons as for centrum PLUS no added phosporus .... have also heard crushed "TUMS" tablets recommended ....
i'm glad you have found a vet you trust!! that can be hard to do ... and i do NOT mean to say he is wrong or bad ... i just disagree on that one point ... you kinda have to do alot of research and "talk" to people and decide for yourself about the animal protein .... (and if you decide against it, that doesn't mean you have to change vets!!! *grin*)
keep us posted on Pellinore's progress! good luck to you both!
oh ... couple of sites that have widely used and recommended ig diets:

Melissa Kaplin has an extensive site that can answer just about every thing about igs ...
