First, use the database of the iggy forum to solve any specific problems you may have in the future. It can be searched for just about anything. Next, make sure you feed the right diet. Some dry blends are available in the pet stores but, nothing beats fresh greens(collard, dandilion, not a lot of spinache, romain lettuce, and never iceberg or head lettuce), friuts(mango, apple, banana, not a lot of citrus, etc..) and very occasional insects(mealworms). Never feed animal protien of any kind.
The cage, as a rule of thumb, enclosure should be 3 times as tall as it wide. Homemade enclosures do nicely if they are built steardy. Iggies are semi-aboreal so basking ledges are important. Heat is essential for digestion. Drop lights are good sources of basking heat. It avoids the possibilty of burns do to malfunctioning heat rocks or pads. Using reptile style bulbs is also very important.
Handling your iggy is a little tricky when it's young. They are very defensive and really don't like it. If you plan on handling him/her in the future then you must handle now. Once or twice a week until he/she gets used to it.
Good luck, somebody else will in this forum will give you more specific information.
