I am currantly taking care of Tuvak, a 5 and 1/2 foot iguana that belongs to my son. whom is in the Navy. Now I really like reptiles. Alligators are a passion and I've owned a few pythons. But its been a while. Now Tuvak decided (yep he runs the house) his den was Josh's room. he goes there to sleep. He always potties in the same spot so Iput paper down and he is a paper trained Iggy. LOL. But here's my questions. Tuvak was sick when we got him. He had that blister disease. I have done the 3 x a day iodine and triple antibiotic. he's shedding now and his scab's are falling off but its leaving pink where the scabs were. How long do I keep up the treatments? Here in KY. there are no real exotic vets. Also he has taken to paying back the dogs for stealing his groceries and is eating their dog food! He will crunch it up like a dog does! Now Tuvak was fed porkchops and his vegies and fruits. I give him adult iguana diet as well as various fruits and vegies. he eats the occaisional eart worm and is the best mouser I have ever had. Tuvak is sposed to be 6 years old. any and all advice is appreciated. I have a outdoor dog pen, 20 by 30 but the base is cement. I was thinking top it with wire and put some logs it may make him a good summer spot. It is half in shade 1/2 sun year round. Will cement hurt his feets? He is very ticklish.
