Are heat rocks Safe???

i have a heat rock and some ppl say it burns the bottom on the iggys stomach...iv been having my iggy for quite a while(3 years) now and there is no burn marks or any thing...and some ppl said that if i do have a heat rock that i should rap it with a rag so that the bottom if the iggy does not burn....any 1 have any ideas whaty should i do??????
